  Biking in Vancouver - Vancouver is a very bike friendly city with numerous trails and designated bike corridors covering the city. One popular route is a 15-kilometer trek that begins at English Bay and ends up at the University of British Columbia. The sights include: The Plaza of Nations, Science World, Granville Island, the Pacific Space Centre, Italian pool and Jericho sailing centre. Vancouver's most popular bike ride is to bike around the seawall which is situated in Stanley Park. Cycle tours are a great for the whole family and is a perfect way to spend the afternoon and explore the sights of the city.


 
 

Fishing & Boating - Vancouver is the perfect location for boating enthusiasts for those who enjoying fishing. There are plenty hot fishing spots and stunning coastlines surrounding Vancouver. There are many different charter boat companies located in Vancouver ready to take you out on the water or you can choose to rent a boat and explore the great sites on your own. Granville Island, Horseshoe Bay and Coal Harbor are three spots where you will find many fishing charters and boat rentals.

For those looking for stronger winds you might want to try kitesurfing in Squamish. Squamish is well known as one of the top places in North America for high performance sailing days. During the summer months the Squamish Windsports Society provides a rescue boat and has staff on hand to provide information regarding site fees and safety regulations. Even if you are not a kitesurfer you may want to head down to Squamish Spit or Nexen Beach and see the kitesurfers in action.


 
  Scuba Diving - Vancouver offers some of the best cold water scuba divingin the world. Cates Park in Deep Cove and Whitecliff Park near Horseshoe Bay are 2 very popular diving spots in the Vancouver area. There are many dive shops and scuba diving outfitters located in Vancouver to meet your diving needs


 
  Kayaking - Vancouver offers perfect scenery and calm waters for those looking to explore the city by water. One popular spot for sea kayaking is through False Creek. Here you can explore Yaletown and Granville island. This is a great way to sea Vancouver's beauty from a different perspective. Another popular kayaking spot is located on the North Shore. Here kayakers can paddle from Deep Cove and explore Indian Arm which extends 30 kilometers.


 
  Ski & Snowboarding - Vancouver definitely gets its fair share of precipitation in the winter, but that precipitation falls in the form of snow on the local ski hills. Vancouver has three local mountains, all of which are within a 30 minute drive from downtown. Grouse Mountain is located just 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver and has North America's largest aerial tramway which will take you one mile up the mountain in 8 minutes. This local mountain features 25 runs.

For those looking for a big mountain experience you might want to venture just two hours north to the world famous Whistler and Blackcomb mountains located in Whistler, BC.


 
 

Stanley Park - Stanley Park is one of Vancouver's most popular attraction. The park attracts around 8 million visitors each year. Stanley Park was Vancouver's first designated park and was officially opened on September 27, 1887. Stanley Park is North America's third largest urban park. The park has numerous walking trails, bike trails, shows, public pools and even an aquarium.


 
 

Windsurfing - Vancouver is considered to be a great place for windsurfing, especially for those learning to windsurf due to consistent winds and relatively calm waters. Jericho Beaches and English bay are good areas for windsurfing. You can also rent windsurfers or take lessons at these two locations. If you are a more experienced windsurfing you might want to head 67 km West from Vancouver to Squeamish. The Squeamish Spit is located at the mouth of the Squeamish River, where it enters Howe Sound. In the summer months wind surfers can reach speeds up to 60 km hour as strong thermal winds blow down the valley which creates perfect windsurfing condition. This are is considered to be one of the top 10 windsurfing spots in the world.


 
  Capilano Suspension Bridge - This is one of Vancouver’s oldest and most popular tourist attractions and was originally built in 1889. The Suspension Bridge is located just minutes from downtown Vancouver and is situated amongst beautiful gardens, huge totem poles and a lush green rainforest. The suspension bridge stretches 450 feet across and 230 feet above the raging Capilano River. There is also a treetop adventure that takes you up more than 100 feet above the forest floor. Capilano Suspension Bridge is fun for the whole family and is a must see when visiting Vancouver.
