Introduction:
For those that have a fascination for reptiles, then diving with crocodiles might just be up your ally. But not to worry as you are protected by an enclosed cage similar to cage diving with sharks. Divers go underwater with goggles and a snorkel so that no scuba training is required. Crocodiles see humans as a natural prey which makes it more exciting as the crocodiles will spend most of their time sizing up the cage diver as potential food. Crocodile cage diving is definitely not for the faint-hearted! (1)
Did You Know?
* The average life span of a crocodile in the wild is up to 80 years and they can grow up to 15 feet in length.
* When you see a crocodile with their mouth wide open this is not an aggressive posture, but a way to cool off as crocodiles sweat through the mouth!
* Crocodiles have a layer behind their retina called a tpetum, containing crystals that reflect light which gives them excellent night vision. (2)
